The film, based on Carlo Collodi’s book “Pinocchio” (1883), got an Oscar nomination this year for its costumes, make up and hairstyle. Pinocchio’s father is played by the Italian actor Roberto Benigni, who is best known for his role in “Life Is Beautiful” (1997), which was shown in China last year and reached 8.24 million US dollars.

The story tells that when the benevolent carpenter Geppetto sleeping, he dreams of a blue angel giving life to his most beloved puppet, Pinocchio and from now on his adventures begins.

If he wants become a real boy, he must pass the test of courage, loyalty and honesty but instead he chose to play truant, tell lies and at the end he became a donkey. He fell into the belly of a big whale and unexpectedly met Geppetto... After this terrible adventure, Pinocchio finally grew up. He became honest and kind, so that finally became a true boy.

In the Chinese animation “Pig Man”, Pinocchio was defeated by Pig Man in the seventh film. His head and body joints can be split freely and can put together even if they are broken apart.
